What is Osteopathic Manual Therapy?
Osteopathy is a holistic, practical application of hands-on manual medicine to facilitate the body’s own amazing self-healing processes.
It is a holistic, preventative option to restore and preserve natural beauty, function, and health through noninvasive, hands-on treatment.
Structure governs function – balancing and supporting the inner workings of the body improves the function and health of all organ systems. Osteopathic therapy promotes wellness and resiliency between muscles, bones, nerves, and most importantly – fascia.
While osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) can treat acute body part issues such as headaches, low back, or pelvic floor pain, it can also be used to treat chronic, whole-body problems such as IBS, chronic pain syndromes, sensitivities, and fibromyalgia.
The whole body is assessed for physical imbalances and blockages. Resiliency follows this harmony when balanced, restoring energy levels, improving sleep, and facilitating emotional regulation by balancing the autonomic nervous system.

What does OMT treat?
- Chronic Pain (head to toe)
- Pelvic Floor Issues (incontinence, pain)
- Abdominal Issues (pain, IBS, constipation)
- Recovery from Injury (acute or chronic)
- Recovery from Surgery
- Promotion of Overall Health and Wellness
- Surgical Prevention (ex: joint replacement)

What to expect at your appointment:
Each osteopathic visit is composed of both verbal discussions and hands-on treatment. The first visit is extended to give time for in-depth history-taking and pertinent physical exam before starting whole-body, hands-on manual diagnosis and therapy. Following visits prioritize hands-on time, but also include management discussions such as recommended therapies, lifestyle modifications, referrals, and reviewing or ordering of imaging studies.
First Consultation Visit: 90 minutes ($300)
Follow Up Visits: 60 minutes ($200)
The recommended treatment schedule is weekly visits for the first 3-5 visits that space to one visit every 2-4 weeks as a maintenance therapy, depending on clinical progress and patient desires. Most patients do report improvement after the first session, but in severe or long-standing cases, it can sometimes take 3 or more visits to consistently feel change in tissues, overall mobility, or pain levels. As you progress with your treatment and integrate suggested lifestyle changes, your progress will stay with you longer and require less daily maintenance.
Dr. Province encourages her patients to continue with previous bodyworkers or alternative practices that they found successful. These include practices such as massage therapy, chiropractic manipulations, acupuncture, physical therapy, energy work, etc.
